The Genesee Bulldogs suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by Pomeroy 68-39. Genesee was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pomeroy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kalitri Hubbard, who scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Vestal, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
It was another big night for Oliver Severs, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds for Pomeroy. Severs is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jett Slusser was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Genesee's defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Pomeroy, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Genesee won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Pomeroy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tekoa-Rosalia at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Tekoa-Rosalia is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.5 points per game.
