The El Dorado Aztecs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 51-41 to Socorro. El Dorado was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
El Dorado's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Lopez, who scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Daniel Well, who scored ten points.
El Dorado has been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 18 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season. As for Socorro, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.
El Dorado will head out on the road to take on the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Montwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Aztecs in Texas (the Rams are ranked 377th, while the Aztecs are ranked 987th). As for Socorro, they will be playing at home against the Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Coronado focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
