After soaring high against Brookline last week, Icarus fell to the ground on Friday. Newton South took a 0-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waltham.
The defeat dropped Newton South's record to 1-2. The win bumped Waltham's record up to 1-2.
Newton South will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Boston Latin at 7:00 PM. Given that they both suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this weekend. As for Waltham, they will face off against Cambridge Rindge & Latin. Cambridge Rindge & Latin also experienced difficulties finding the end zone in their previous matchup, so look for the defenses to decide this one.
