The contest between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Morning Star Academy falling 52-36. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Faith Christian: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Morning Star Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Trotter. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. The game was Trotter's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Isaac Yowell was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Faith Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Kibble, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Fassler, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Morning Star Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Faith Christian, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morning Star Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Galesburg Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Faith Christian, they will be playing at home against East Moline Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Moline Christian is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
