Camelback hasn't had much luck against Cesar Chavez recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Spartans will square off against the Champions at 6:00 p.m. Camelback has given up an average of 19.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Camelback lost 15-5 to South Mountain on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Cesar Chavez got the win against Browne on Thursday by a conclusive 25-7. Considering the Champions have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Saree Ochoa was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Jade Garcia was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Acosta, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs.
Cesar Chavez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Cesar Chavez has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Camelback, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Camelback suffered a grim 21-9 defeat to Cesar Chavez in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
