Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Green Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ella Cockrum, who went 6-for-7 en route to 15 points. Thanks to that strong game, Cockrum now owns an excellent 45.5% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Kantyn Pearson, who posted eight points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Green Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Sierra rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They breezed past the Eagles to the tune of 57-22. The Stallions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Green Mountain better keep an eye on Shetara Roebuck. She was instrumental in Sierra's win, putting up 25 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Roebuck is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Deja Burns was another key player, posting eight points in addition to 15 boards and eight blocks.
Green Mountain pushed their record up to 21-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.6 points over those games. As for Sierra, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Saturday's contest: Green Mountain has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 34.8% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Sierra, though, as they've only made 20.4% of their threes this season. Given Green Mountain's sizable advantage in that area, Sierra will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Green Mountain against Sierra in their previous matchup back in March of 2020, as the squad secured a 64-33 win. Does Green Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sierra turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
