The Conotton Valley Rockets will square off against the River Pilots at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Saturday, Conotton Valley made easy work of Ridgewood and carried off a 9-3 win. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Generals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Brooklyn Kelley and Ava Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Kelley went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Williams got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Williams has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jenica Frutig, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Conotton Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgewood only posted an OBP of .360.
Meanwhile, River got the win against Toronto on Monday by a conclusive 13-3. That's two games straight that the Pilots have won by exactly ten runs.
Ava Wohnhas made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, River let Cyla Jeffers and Brianna Wiley run wild. Jeffers went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run, while Wiley went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Kinney-Blair, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
River's win bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Conotton Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 17-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Conotton Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like River struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Conotton Valley beat River 6-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
