The Casey-Westfield Warriors will face off against the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Casey-Westfield 2.2, Mt. Carmel 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Casey-Westfield is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Richland County just ended the team's 13-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 6-3 to the Tigers.

Ava Goble spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gyllyane Gilbert was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel made easy work of Flora on Wednesday and carried off a 13-2 victory. Considering the Golden Aces have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mt. Carmel also let their pitcher toss all six innings played and she was also dialed-in: Presley White gave up just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evie Sellers, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lyla Keepes, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Mt. Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Mt. Carmel's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-4. As for Casey-Westfield, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 19-2.
Casey-Westfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Mt. Carmel in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Aces turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
