Waldron extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-10. They came up short against the Herron Achaeans, falling 23-10. The Mohawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Achaeans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.
Lilly Reese made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Breanna Barton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
As for Herron, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Herron's side, Jordyn Ault was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off 12 hits. Ault was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Herron got a massive performance out of Layla Williams, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Williams is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Faith Palacios also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Coming up, Waldron will be playing in front of their home fans against Morristown at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Mohawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Herron, they will take on Warren Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.31 runs per game on average), something the Achaeans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
