The Smithsburg Leopards fell victim to the Boonsboro Warriors''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Warriors, falling 35-0. Smithsburg has struggled against Boonsboro recently, as their match on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boonsboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chad Wyand, who rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Parker Debaugh also helped out as he racked up 103 rushing yards.
Smithsburg's defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Tucker County and 13-1 Fort Hill (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.5% over those games). As for Boonsboro, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Smithsburg will head out on the road to face off against Allegany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Allegany will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Boonsboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
