The Emerald Ridge Jaguars will face off against the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Graham-Kapowsin will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Emerald Ridge extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday. Everything went the Jaguars' way against Spanaway Lake as they made off with a 19-4 win.
Ava Puttler made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. Puttler was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Emerald Ridge got a massive performance out of Abygale Redwine, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most runs Redwine has posted since back in March. Jayda Guadron was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Emerald Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Graham-Kapowsin won against Bonney Lake two weeks ago with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Eagles beat Curtis by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won five in a row.
The team relied heavily on MaKena Rodgers, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Vargas, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Emerald Ridge's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Graham-Kapowsin, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Both Emerald Ridge and Graham-Kapowsin just can't seem to miss. The Jaguars have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Graham-Kapowsin struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Emerald Ridge's way against Graham-Kapowsin when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Emerald Ridge made off with a 15-2 victory. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
