Atlantic Coast extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 11-10. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oakleaf Knights. If the Stingrays were looking for revenge after losing 5-1 to the Knights when the teams met back in March of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Jackson Adams was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his seven plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Carter Terryn was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-8 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Esix Snead also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
As for Oakleaf, they pushed their record up to 8-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.
On Oakleaf's side, Jeremiah Renaldo looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Renaldo a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Jeter Farina was incredible, getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Mendoza, who went 3-for-6 with one run and one RBI.
Coming up, Atlantic Coast will head out to take on Providence School at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Stallions have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Oakleaf, they will be playing in front of their home fans against ED White at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Commanders have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
