The Bloomington Purple Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the MacArthur Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Bloomington took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 40-2 win over Champaign Central. Given Bloomington's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Champaign Central is ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rob Lanier was on fire: he rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Meanwhile, MacArthur had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They strolled past Sacred Heart-Griffin with points to spare, taking the game 45-27.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 5-3.
