Kemper County has struggled against Northeast Lauderdale recently, as their game on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Northeast Lauderdale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bj Portis out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Portis has scored all season. Addison Baskin was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals.
Kemper County's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9. As for Northeast Lauderdale, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kemper County will take on Noxubee County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Noxubee County is ranked 126th, while Kemper County is ranked 109th). As for Northeast Lauderdale, they will head out on the road to face off against Newton County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
