Sandusky extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 8-11 in the process. They lost 18-10 to the Columbian Tornadoes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tornadoes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 back in April.
Akiyla Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Maijon Wiley, who went 1-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
As for Columbian, they moved to 9-12 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Columbian's side, Camryn Haman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Haman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-6 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Columbian got a massive performance out of Breanna McNutt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave McNutt a new career-high. Elyssia Aller was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sandusky will head out to challenge Elyria at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pioneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.71 runs per game on average), something the Blue Streaks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Columbian, they will take on Norwalk at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Tornadoes will need to watch out since the Truckers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
