After a string of nine wins dating back to last season, the Yuma Criminals's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Moon Valley. Yuma has not had much luck with Moon Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Yuma's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Amador, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists. Amador is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Andrew Mosqueda was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Yuma's defeat dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Moon Valley, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yuma will face off against Greenway at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenway is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Moon Valley, Moon Valley and Thunderbird will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Thunderbird will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
