Softball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Tidehaven's Winning Streak

If Tidehaven was riding high fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Yoakum last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Tidehaven lost 8-1 to the Columbus Cardinals on Friday. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Tidehaven saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maleah Galvan, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Tidehaven's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-9. As for Columbus, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tidehaven will challenge Hallettsville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hallettsville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Tidehaven's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Columbus, they will take on Yoakum at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
