The Ellison Lions will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks at 6:30 p.m. Ellison will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
Last Friday, Ellison strolled past Rauner with points to spare, taking the game 62-48. Given Ellison's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Rauner is ranked 556th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Hammond Academy of Science & Tech ended up a good deal behind Calumet Christian on Tuesday and lost 57-42.
Despite the loss, Hammond Academy of Science & Tech got a solid performance out of Jermaine Bartlett, who scored 24 points along with four steals. That was a full 57.1% of Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Ridle, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Ellison has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Hammond Academy of Science & Tech, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
