The Wayne Blue Devils took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They blew past Battle Creek 67-40 at home. That's another feather in the cap for Wayne, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Wayne to victory were Caiden Backer and Colson Nelsen. Backer scored 14 points along with 4 steals, while Nelsen scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Devin Anderson, who scored 5 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Wayne's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Battle Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Wayne will head out on the road to face off against Ponca on Saturday. As for Battle Creek, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family at 5:15 p.m. Hopefully Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
