The Garinger Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They took a 73-59 bruising from Butler. Even though they lost, Garinger's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.2 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Raziah Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Misa Garris, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
Butler's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Saunders, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 assists. Saunders is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Joy Park was another key contributor, going 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 0 assists.
Garinger has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Butler, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garinger will take on the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Mecklenburg is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Butler, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Providence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
