Basketball Recap: Pamlico County Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Pamlico County extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Sydney Whitley-Reese. The Pamlico County Hurricanes came out on top against the White Oak Vikings by a score of 61-52 on Friday thanks in part to Whitley-Reese, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season.

The team also got some help courtesy of Nya Clark, who went 9 of 20 on her way to 20 points and three steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mylena Clark, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 boards. The dominant performance gave Clark a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Ferguson, who posted 17 points and six steals.

Pamlico County's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for White Oak, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Pamlico County and Bear Grass Charter will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Pamlico County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season. As for White Oak, they and East Carteret will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. White Oak is facing East Carteret at the right time seeing as East Carteret is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
