Even though Grace Christian scored an imposing 77 points on Friday, the Teays Valley Christian Lions still came out on top. Teays Valley Christian snuck past Grace Christian with a 82-77 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Teays Valley Christian.
Teays Valley Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maki Cary led the charge by scoring 30 points along with six assists and three steals. Cary is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Eli Pendleton, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Grace Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jonathen Holderby, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. Holderby hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. David Wiebe was another key contributor, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds.
Teays Valley Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. As for Grace Christian, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Teays Valley Christian will head out on the road to face off against Spring Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Spring Valley will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Teays Valley Christian surely won't give up without a fight. Grace Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
