It was a good run, but the Lewisburg Patriots unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Bayou Academy. Lewisburg was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bayou Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Akevia Kimble, who scored seven points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Allie Carroll, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Lewisburg's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Bayou Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-8.
Lewisburg will face off against Southaven at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southaven has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 11. As for Bayou Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Heritage Academy is ranked 46th, while Bayou Academy is ranked 45th).
