After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Washington County, the Fruitdale Pirates were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They blew past Elberta 51-18 on the road. That's another feather in the cap for Fruitdale, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fruitdale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Genna Ivy, who scored 23 points. Anaya Smith was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Fruitdale's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Elberta, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-20.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fruitdale will take on the Demons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. McIntosh is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Elberta, they will head out on the road to challenge the Dolphins at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Gulf Shores presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Warriors in Alabama (the Dolphins are ranked 64th, while the Warriors are ranked 448th).
