Video: Top 10 Games of the WeekDeSoto (Texas) at Steele (Cibolo, Texas)
Thursday, 7 p.m. Central timeWhy it's big: It's another tough challenge for a DeSoto team still trying to get on track this season. The talented Eagles were ranked No. 5 in the preseason Xcellent 25 before starting the year 0-2 with lopsided losses to Arlington Martin and IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.). On the plus side, the Eagles did get their first win of the year last Saturday with a 38-9 rout of South Oak Cliff (Dallas).
State-ranked Steele wants to avenge last year's 29-24 defeat to DeSoto. It was the only blemish on its record before a loss to Katy in the 6A state semifinals. The Knights have breezed through the early portion of this year's schedule, defeating a trio of overmatched opponents by a combined margin of 146-41.
Names to watch: Although his performance can sometimes be described as erratic, DeSoto senior quarterback
Tristen Wallace is unquestionably one of the top dual-threat talents in the state of Texas. The Ohio State-committed four-star prospect has over 800 yards passing and more than 200 yards rushing this season with eight total touchdowns. He's also thrown four interceptions.
Meanwhile, Steele has an exciting dual-threat quarterback of its own in junior
Xavier Martin. The 6-foot, 180-pound Texas Tech commit has an impressive 135 passer rating this season.
