On Tuesday, the Cold Springs Eagles faced the Lauderdale County Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. 2024 welcomed Cold Springs with a 56-34 loss courtesy of Lauderdale County. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cold Springs has scored all season.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ciara Calvert, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Calvert's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Ella Bruer was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Cold Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Lauderdale County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
Cold Springs will head out on the road to face off against Vinemont at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Vinemont will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Lauderdale County will take on Elkmont at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elkmont will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 197th, while Lauderdale County is ranked fifth).
