The Cordova Lancers entered their tilt with the West Campus Warriors with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Cordova enjoyed a cozy 65-48 win over West Campus on Monday. This was payback for Cordova, who suffered a 71-60 loss the last time these two teams met.
Cordova's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malachi Gorman, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Sabir, who scored 13 points.
West Campus' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Zach Villanueva, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and two steals, and Edmund Michalski who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Villanueva is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Paul cyron Diao was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds.
Cordova has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for West Campus, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5.
Cordova will head out on the road to square off against Natomas at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Averaging 63.29 points so far this season, Cordova's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Natomas better be ready for a challenge. As for West Campus, they will be playing at home against Johnson at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Campus is coming into the match with ten straight defeats at home, so Johnson is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
