The Crestview Rebels put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 55-40 victory over Champion. 55 seems to be a good number for Crestview as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Crestview was led to victory by Luvrain Gaskins and Addison Rhodes. Gaskins dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Rhodes scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Gaskins hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 13 straight games. Myer Miller was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Several Golden Flashes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isabella Meyer, who scored 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Haynie, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Champion struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Crestview pushed their record up to 20-0 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Champion, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crestview will take on the G-Men at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Garfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Monday. As for Champion, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Leopards at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 756th, while the Golden Flashes are ranked 269th).
