Basketball Recap: Winner Comes Up Short

Winner was the 68-51 winner over Sully Buttes when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors received a blow on Saturday as they fell 70-53 to the Chargers.

When it comes to explaining why Winner lost, don't look at Carter Craven. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine rebounds. The matchup was Craven's sixth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zac Olson, who posted eight points.

Winner's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Sully Buttes, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Winner will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Parker/Marion at 3:30 p.m. on the 30th. Sully Buttes will take on Wolsey-Wessington in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
