Estacado is 5-0 against Lake View since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Estacado Matadors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lake View Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Estacado put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against Big Spring as Estacado made off with a 33-13 victory. The victory was just what Estacado needed coming off of a 35-14 loss in their prior match.
Estacado's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Bozeman, who rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Bozeman was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Bobby Ross, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Meanwhile, Lake View's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in October after their eighth straight loss. They suffered a rough 63-43 defeat at the hands of Big Spring.
Despite the defeat, Lake View got a solid performance out of Jalen Chavez, who threw for 172 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground.
Estacado's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.2 points per game. As for Lake View, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for Estacado against Lake View in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 61-7 win. Will Estacado repeat their success, or does Lake View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
