Basketball Recap: Kalia Fencher Key Part of a Team Effort in Patriots Win

Marbury typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Pike Road proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Marbury Bulldogs by a score of 58-49. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in November of 2024, they had to take a 60-53 loss.

Pike Road's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kalia Fencher, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 22 points and three steals. That's the most steals Fencher has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Audrey Blaine, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Pike Road was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Justice Blackmon, who posted 26 points and five steals. The game was Blackmon's third in a row with at least ten points. Nunu Jernigan was another key player, putting up 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Pike Road's record now sits at 12-10. As for Marbury, their record is now 12-5.

Pike Road has already played their next match, a 37-23 win against Charles Henderson on the 18th. As for Marbury, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-37 victory against Chilton County on the 17th.
