Softball Recap: New Home Has No Trouble Against Morton

There's no place like home for New Home, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Morton Indians with a sharp 16-0 win on Saturday. The match marked the Leopards' most dominant victory of the season.

The team relied heavily on Khyler Rodriguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Molly Maberry was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Rodriguez wasn't the only one working in the hit department: New Home kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morton only managed one hit.

New Home has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. Morton is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Coming up, New Home will host Tahoka at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Morton, they are taking a road trip to take on Post at 4:35 p.m. on Tuesday. Morton's pitchers better be ready for this one: Post has averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
