This season hasn't been kind to The Torres Toros, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 50-0 loss at the hands of Marshall. Torres was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Marshall apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.
Among those leading the charge was Scott Teves, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Teves was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Another big playmaker for Marshall was Deangelo Mclaren, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Marshall's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Torres' loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-9 Maywood CES and 2-8 Belmont (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 42.4% over those games). As for Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Torres does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Marshall will head out on the road to face off against Verdugo Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
