There's no place like home for Vel Phillips Memorial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past the Madison La Follette Lancers 11-1 on Wednesday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Brayden Banyai made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Vel Phillips Memorial let Simon Sellwood and Caleb Liggon run wild. Sellwood got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Liggon got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ethan Eckel, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Vel Phillips Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
