Baseball Recap: Sunnyside Beats Walden Grove for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Sunnyside came tearing into Thursday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Walden Grove Red Wolves. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

Sunnyside got a big performance out of JORGE RUIZ, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. RUIZ has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times he's played. SABINO GONZALEZ was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Sunnyside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Sunnyside's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Walden Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.

Coming up, Sunnyside will venture away from home to square off against Vista Grande at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Walden Grove, they will welcome Tucson High Magnet School at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
