The Norfolk Panthers will head out on the road to square off against Thurston-Cuming County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thurston-Cuming County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Norfolk, who comes in off a win.
Norfolk took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Fremont 10-4. Considering the Panthers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Norfolk got a great performance from Brenden Flood as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Maddox Magnussen was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Noah Hinrichs was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Norfolk always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fremont only posted an OBP of .281.
Meanwhile, Thurston-Cuming County came up short against Guardian Angels Central Catholic/West Point Beemer on Saturday and fell 9-4. Thurston-Cuming County hasn't had much luck with Guardian Angels Central Catholic/West Point Beemer recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Owen Kneifl was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Wegner, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
With the victory, Norfolk broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-15. As for Thurston-Cuming County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Norfolk was able to grind out a solid win over Thurston-Cuming County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
