There's no place like home for the Buena Colts, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 79-72 win over Sunnyside on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Buena's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamin Booker, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Mason Gordon was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
Sunnyside lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaac Ramirez, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ramirez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of MANUEL MORENO, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Sunnyside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Buena is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Sunnyside, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buena will take on Ironwood Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ironwood Ridge is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Sunnyside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cesar Chavez at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Cesar Chavez's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games.
