Model extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-12. They lost 12-3 to Lincoln County. If Model was looking for revenge after losing 7-5 to Lincoln County when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Model saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josie Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Ava Low also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
As for Lincoln County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7. Considering they have won eight contests by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Lincoln County's side, Mckenzie Shelton made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Shelton has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and five runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.
In other batting news, Halle Siler was incredible, firing off three triples, four RBI, and one run while going 4-for-4. Those three triples gave her a new career-high. Madison Carpentar was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Looking ahead, Model is taking a road trip to challenge Berea at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincoln County, they will welcome Woodford County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
