Basketball Recap: North Central's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It was a proper cat-fight when North Central duked it out withLawrence North on Friday. The North Central Panthers took a hard 88-70 fall against the Lawrence North Wildcats. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

North Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah Bellamy, who went 7 for 12 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bellamy a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Grosfeld, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lawrence North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kai McGrew, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 boards. McGrew's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Azavier Robinson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten assists.

With the loss, North Central broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-6. As for Lawrence North, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3.

North Central has already played their next game, a 55-50 defeat against Warren Central on the 31st. As for Lawrence North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 63-56 loss against New Palestine on the 29th.
