Basketball Recap: Ironwood Ridge Falls Despite Big Games from Kyle Ray and Carter Brown

If Ironwood Ridge was feeling good fresh off their 77-52 takedown of Walden Grove last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks lost to the Salpointe Catholic Lancers on the road by a 62-47 margin on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Nighthawks in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Ironwood Ridge's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carter Brown, who posted 15 points and four steals, and Kyle Ray, who had nine points. That's the most points Ray has posted since back in November of 2024.

Ironwood Ridge's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8. As for Salpointe Catholic, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

Ironwood Ridge will welcome Sahuaro at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sahuaro will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Ironwood Ridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Salpointe Catholic, they are taking a road trip to take on Tucson High Magnet School at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Salpointe Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 180 points over their last three games.
