Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mesquite

Mesquite waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over the San Luis Sidewinders. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Cruz Lantz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Mesquite got a massive performance out of Kash Rogers, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Rogers a new career-high. Jacob Hogan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Mesquite hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive matches.

Mesquite's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for San Luis, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Coming up, Mesquite will square off against Perry at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for San Luis, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Gilbert on the 11th.
