The Scotlandville Hornets won the last time they faced the Port Allen Pelicans, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Scotlandville walked away with a 62-51 victory over the Pelicans. Given Scotlandville's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Pelicans are ranked 181st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jamal Drewery, who scored 22 points along with six assists and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Scotlandville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakarin Whitfield, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Scotlandville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Port Allen, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scotlandville will face off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Capitol will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Port Allen, they will head out on the road to take on the Kittens at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Southern Lab knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully the Pelicans like a good challenge.
