Northview Academy is 10-0 against Seymour since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Northview Academy Cougars will take on the Seymour Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Northview Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 matchups -- so hopefully Seymour likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Northview Academy didn't have too much trouble with Grainger as they won 63-44. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Seymour's game on Tuesday was all tied up 32-32 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 64-47 bruising from Cocke County. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Fighting Cocks 19-14 in the first quarter.

Despite the defeat, Seymour saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Talon Pederson posted 15 points and seven rebounds. Pederson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was David Canterbury, who had 11 points.

Even though they lost, Seymour smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Seymour's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Northview Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.

Everything came up roses for Northview Academy against Seymour in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 107-70 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northview Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
