The Medford Tech Jaguars put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 71-65 victory over Doane Academy. Given Medford Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Doane Academy is ranked 322nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Robbie Conyer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Branson, who scored nine points along with seven assists and four steals.
Doane Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nick Fusco, who scored 24 points. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. Vaughn Hoagland was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Medford Tech's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Doane Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Medford Tech and Irvington will round out the year against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Irvington is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. Doane Academy and Riverside will face off at 12:00 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
