Tri-County is 8-2 against South Newton since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Tri-County Cavaliers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the South Newton Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Tri-County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Tri-County's game was all tied up 17-17 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They snuck past Frontier with a 43-38 victory.
Tri-County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Hughes, who scored 13 points along with four steals. Eric Zarse was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, South Newton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on January 6th after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to North White.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Chayse Stillabower, who scored eight points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Colton Marks, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Tri-County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for South Newton, they bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Tri-County strolled past South Newton in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 54-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tri-County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
