The Academy of the Sacred Heart Gazelles's road trip will continue as they head out to face the University Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around on Monday.
Last Tuesday, Academy of the Sacred Heart was the victim of a rough 38-14 defeat at the hands of Our Lady of the Lakes. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Academy of the Sacred Heart has scored all season.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to University, who are still winless after their seventh game. They were beaten by Ferndale 83-13 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, University can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while Ferndale is ranked 66th).
Academy of the Sacred Heart bumped their record down to 2-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.6 points per game. As for University, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Academy of the Sacred Heart strolled past University in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 37-19. Does Academy of the Sacred Heart have another victory up their sleeve, or will University turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
