Providence is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Bedford North Lawrence is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pioneers will welcome the Stars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Providence 3.5, Bedford North Lawrence 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Providence and Jeffersonville meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Pioneers never let the Red Devils get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Gavin Jackson's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Providence let Lucas Mauk and Cole Huett run wild. Mauk got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Huett went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most stolen bases Mauk has posted since back in June of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brady Haynes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Providence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Bedford North Lawrence hadn't done well against Jennings County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Stars narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Panthers 4-3.
Bedford North Lawrence is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Providence, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Providence hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Bedford North Lawrence struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Providence's way against Bedford North Lawrence when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Providence made off with an 11-2 victory. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Stars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
