Basketball Recap: Summertown Snags 13th Win in Last 15 Games

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Summertown on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 54-37 win over the Mt. Pleasant Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 61-57 back in January.

Summertown got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lleyton Sherman out in front who posted 20 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Sherman a new career-high in rebounds. Cole Campbell was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Summertown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Mt. Pleasant lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Micah Dale, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Benderman, who put up seven points and 11 boards.

Summertown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points per game. As for Mt. Pleasant, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-6.

Summertown will square off against Loretto at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Loretto will roll in looking for their 23rd straight win, something Summertown surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mt. Pleasant, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Mt. Pleasant Tigers duke it out with the Lewis County Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th.
