Washington has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Jackson Ironman/Ironladies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Washington earned a 62-54 victory over Chillicothe. Given Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Chillicothe is ranked 441st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Washington got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Haithcock out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Haithcock continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Garrett Rickman, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Jackson entered their tilt with Hillsboro with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Jackson slipped by Hillsboro 58-57 on Friday.
Washington's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points per game. As for Jackson, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
Washington strolled past Jackson in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 66-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Washington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
