The St. Mary's Cardinals are on the road again on Thursday and plays the West Holt Huskies on February 8th. One thing working in St. Mary's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
St. Mary's scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Boyd County for the full four quarters, racking up a 83-36 victory on the road. St. Mary's has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 25 points or more this season.
Alissa Brabec was her usual excellent self, going 11 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 39 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Lorissa Reiman was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for West Holt, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-39 loss to Niobrara/Verdigre on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Holt in their matchups with Niobrara/Verdigre: they've now lost four in a row.
St. Mary's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for West Holt, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
St. Mary's skirted past West Holt 44-42 in their previous matchup last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Mary's since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
